Ticket Related

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Yes, thank you! With the focus on fresh food, your reservation helps the fine shops and restaurants we stop at in Salem get prepped for our visit. Click here to go to our reservations page.  If you are looking for a last minute reservation, you are welcome to email or call us to see if there are any open spots. Salem Food Tours run throughout the year except major national holidays.

If a tour is sold out do you offer a waiting list?

From time to time we may be able to accommodate. Reserve your desired date here: Reservations, or call us at 978-594-8811.

Are the Tours rain or shine?

Yes! Brightly sunny, romantically rainy or snowy – we walk and enjoy! Please prepare for the elements accordingly and check our local weather prior to your visit so you can bring what you’ll need to stay comfortable. Salem’s zip code is 01970 if you are checking weather.com. (If we determine that safety is an issue due to weather or unforeseen events, we cancel the Tour and offer a refund or a credit, whichever you desire.)

Refunds?

All ticket sales are final. In the rare instance where we have to cancel an event, we will offer ticket-holders a choice of either a refund or a credit for a later date.

Can children participate in a Tour?

Our Tours include wine tastings and are for age 21+, thank you for understanding. Interested parties with older children/teens may contact us about private group tours which can accommodate families with younger guests.

How do I redeem my Gift Certificate(s)?

If you have a Gift Certificate and want to redeem please visit our reservation page and fill out form to request your desired dates. In the “Number of tickets” field please denote the number of Certificates you are redeeming and each Gift Certificate number(s). All Gift Certificates have a number on the front as well as an expiration date.

May I bring my companion animal?

Companion animals are not allowed on the Tour, thank you for understanding. Service animals are welcome but require advance notice when you buy your ticket.

Tipping?

Guide tipping is customary on Tours but optional. We always appreciate tips if you had a great time!


Tour Logistics

How long is the Tour?

Tours run about 3.5 hours and cover approximately 2 miles of non-continuous walking. Please allow for traffic when planning your visit to Salem, especially during the summer and early fall. Once your tickets are purchased, you will be notified with a Final Confirmation email with your Tour’s starting location and nearby parking.  Due to the nature of the Tour we cannot start late, thank you for understanding!

What is the Tour walking pace?

Casual pace, with a slight increase in pace when the Tour moves through some connecting downtown areas. Streets are mostly flat with a few slight inclines. Some tastings will be standing, other stops sitting. Email us if you have any specific accessibility questions.

How should I dress?

As casual or as fabulous as you want! However, please reward yourself and wear your most comfortable walking shoes. Don’t forget to bring an umbrella or raincoat if the weather demands, and we suggest keeping personal bags small and light.

Bathrooms?

There are restrooms at several stops on the Tour, as well as a public facility at the beginning and end.

Where do Tours start?

You will be advised via email what your starting location once your ticket is Confirmed and paid.

Is there time to shop on the Tour?

The Tour is timed to allow for some quick shopping, and we encourage you to visit Salem’s fine shops after the Tour to do any substantial purchases. Shops also welcome you to leave your packages and come back and retrieve at end.


Food Related

What establishments will be visit on the Tour?

We guarantee at least 5 stops per Tour consisting of a combination of restaurants and shops. Please visit our Tour Partners page to review some possible stops on the Tour. Please note: we do not guarantee which exact stops we’ll be making on the Tour nor what samples you will be trying—each Tour is wonderfully unique!

How much food is included? How about water?

We guarantee at least 5 stops per Tour at a combination of restaurants and shops. Chefs and shopkeepers prepare a light tasting at each. A bottle of water will be provided to all guests at the start of each Tour. In addition there are opportunities on the tour to purchase additional beverages.

What if I have any food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Please contact us in advance with any known food allergies or dietary restrictions before purchasing your tickets. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. Dietary requests made on the day of the Tour cannot be accommodated. Please note, we will do our best to make you comfortable, however we cannot guarantee every restaurant/shop can replace certain foods due to the nature of the stop, so at these stops you may not be able to participate. Again, we will happily do our best to make you comfortable within our means.

What is the minimum and maximum headcount on a Tour?

6–12 people. For larger private groups, please contact us.

I’m a local—is this Tour for me, too?

Absolutely! Many of our guests live either in or around the Salem area or within a short drive. After the Tour, you will have a better understanding of all the wonderful food and dining opportunities in Salem—and may even be presented with special incentives for return visits to various establishments.  It’s also a terrific afternoon to bring your out of town guests.

Are cameras allowed on the Tour?

Yes, you are absolutely welcome to take still photos. We do ask for your discretion when shooting inside a restaurant with patrons, thank you.
