Salem Food Tours Launches Local Culinary Excursions
Guided Walking Tours Highlight Witch City’s Robust Food and Wine Scene
August 29, 2012, Salem, MA—Salem Food Tours has launched, offering guided food walking tours and tastings at renowned Salem shops and restaurants. Attendees experience Salem, a food lover’s city, through this unique sensory journey while learning about Salem’s spice trade, gastronomy history and more.
“Our goal is to introduce the amazing food culture we have in Salem to both locals and travelers alike” says Karen Scalia, Founder and Owner of Salem Food Tours. “Salem is known for its great shops and delicious restaurants, but many people are unsure where to venture first, or they simply want to try new things. Our Tour gives the food lover a unique and delicious view of Salem.”
All food Tour stops, called Tour Partners, have one thing in common – a commitment to fresh fare and at least one locally sourced item. While sampling, guests can enjoy talks with chefs and shop owners, learning about their commitment and passion for great food.
“Our Partners are terrific and each Tour is unique so you can return and enjoy again” explains Karen. “As one recent attendee on our soft launch Tour noted: I thought I knew Salem. But you don’t know Salem until you’ve taken this Tour.”
Tours are intimate experiences with 5-12 attendees about 2 miles of Salem’s downtown and waterfront areas. Monthly Vegan Tours are offered as well as private tours.
