Ticket Related

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Yes, thank you! With the focus on fresh food, your reservation helps the fine shops and restaurants we stop at in Salem get prepped for our visit. Check out our Tour Calendars page to see scheduled tours.  If you are looking for a last minute reservation, you are welcome to email or call us to see if there are any open spots. Salem Food Tours run throughout the year.

If a tour is sold out do you offer a waiting list?

From time to time we may be able to accommodate. Call us at 978-594-8811.

Are the Tours rain or shine?

Yes! Brightly sunny, romantically rainy or snowy – we walk and enjoy! Please prepare for the elements accordingly and check our local weather prior to your visit so you can bring what you’ll need to stay comfortable. Salem’s zip code is 01970 if you are checking weather.com. However, if we determine that safety is an issue due to weather or unforeseen events, we cancel the Tour and offer a refund or a credit.

Refunds?

All ticket sales are final. In the rare instance where we have to cancel an event, we will offer ticket-holders a choice of either a refund or a credit for a later date.

Can children participate in a Tour?

Typically Food Tours include wine tastings and are for age 21+.  We do warmly welcome older teens with an interest in food and culinary and can accomodate with a non-alcoholic beverage. Interested parties with children may contact us about private tours which can accommodate families with younger guests.

How do I redeem my Gift Certificate(s)?

If you have a Gift Certificate and want to redeem please click on your desired date on the calendar. Enter your Gift Certificate number located on the front of your Certificate.

May I bring my companion animal?

Companion animals are not allowed on the Tour. Service animals are welcome but require advance notice when you buy your ticket. Thank you for understanding.

Tipping?

Guide tipping is customary on Tours but optional. We always appreciate tips if you had a great time!


Tour Logistics

How long is the Tour?

Tours run about 3.5 hours and cover approximately 2 miles of non-continuous walking. Please allow for traffic when planning your visit to Salem, especially during the busy summer and fall months. You will be notified with a Final Confirmation email with your Tour’s starting location and parking options a day or two prior to your Tour date.  Kindly note due to the nature of the Tour, we must start on time.

What is the Tour walking pace?

We move at a casual speed with a slight increase in pace when the Tour moves through some connecting downtown areas. The streets are mostly flat with a few slight inclines. Some tastings will be standing, other stops sitting. Email us if you have any specific accessibility and pacing questions.

How should I dress?

As casual or as fabulous as you want! However, please reward yourself and wear your most comfortable walking shoes. Don’t forget to bring an umbrella or raincoat if the weather demands. We suggest keeping personal bags small and light.  You’ll want to bring a lightweight tote for any purchases you might like to make.

Bathrooms?

There are restrooms at several stops on the Tour as well as a public facility at the beginning and end.

Where do Tours start?

Paid ticket holders will be advised via email what your starting location is several days prior to their Tour.

Is there time to shop on the Tour?

We highly advocate to shop and eat locally. Tours are timed to allow for some shopping. Shops are happy to hold your packages if you would like to retrieve them at the end of Tour. We highly advise bringing a lightweight tote for any purchases you might like to make. Some stops offer Tour guests discounts. 🙂


Food Related

What establishments will be visit on the Tour?

We guarantee at least 5 stops per Tour consisting of a combination of restaurants and shops. Please visit our Tour Partners page to review some possible stops on the Tour. Please note: we do not guarantee which exact stops we’ll be making on the Tour nor what samples you will be trying—each Tour is wonderfully unique!

How much food is included? How about water?

We guarantee at least 5 stops per Tour at a combination of restaurants and shops. Chefs and shopkeepers prepare a light tasting at each. A bottle of water will be provided to all guests at the start of each Tour. There are opportunities on the tour to purchase additional beverages if desired.

What if I have any food allergies or dietary restrictions?

We are happy to accomodate within our means. When purchasing tickets, please include any food allergies or dietary restrictions in the Order Notes section of the checkout form. Dietery requests must be made prior to your Tour date. Please note, we cannot guarantee every restaurant/shop can replace certain foods due to the nature of the stop. Again, we will happily do our best to make you comfortable within our means.


Miscellaneous

What is the minimum/maximum headcount on a Tour?

On our public Salem Food Tours, we accomodate 6–12 people. For larger private groups our headcount is flexible, please contact us for more information.  AM Coffee Walks and Strolls have a minimum headcount of 2 guests.

I’m a local—is this Tour for me, too?

Absolutely! Many of our guests live either in or around the Salem area or within a short drive. It’s a fun way to get a whole new view of Salem. After the Tour, you will have a better understanding of all the wonderful food and dining opportunities in in the city. It’s also a terrific afternoon activity to do with your out of town guests.

Are cameras allowed on the Tour?

Yes, you are absolutely welcome to take still photos. Videotaping is not allowed. We do ask for your discretion when shooting inside a restaurant with patrons. Thank you!
